Orion Telescopes

Orion is a name brand telescope which offers either reflector or refractor types. They also manufacture and sell binoculars. The company was originally know as "Optronic Technologies", and was established in 1975, when it began designing and manufacturing electronic accessories for amateur telescopes. The Orion telescope was created in order to market to consumers. The Orion line provides products for the beginner or amateur at a competitive cost. Zhumell Telescopes

The Zhumell company specializes in binoculars, but their product line extends into telescopes, spotting scopes, riflescopes and other accessories. The Zhumell line of telescopes offer a 3 year no-fault warranty on all products, other than a majority of their binoculars which offers a 25 year no-fault warranty. Meade Telescopes

Meade Instruments Corporation was founded in 1972 as a mail-order supplier of small refracting telescopes. As the company's sales grew, so did its product line. In 1977 Meade introduced its first in-house manufactured telescopes, models 628 and 826, which were 6 inch and 8 inch reflectors. In the year of 1986 Meade Instruments was labeled as the largest and leading manufacturer of telescopes for serious amateurs in the world. Celestron Telescopes

Celestron was first known as Valor Electronics and was founded by Tom Johnson who created the company by building a telescope from scratch for his two sons. The company was later sold in 1980; in 2002 it was purchased by three of Celestron's senior management team members. The first development which Celestron underwent was creating the Schmidt corrector plate at a more economical cost in 1970. It was under the new owners where Celestron launched the observatory-class CGE Series of computerized equatorial telescopes. Takahashi Telescopes

Takahashi telescopes are manufactured in Urii, Japan and first began making telescopes in 1967 after 35 years of being in business. Takahashi's product line focuses on advance telescopes with handmade optics. Takahashi products are only available through certified dealers which are outlined on their website. A company called Land, Sea, & Sky (Texas Nautical Repair) is the authorized distributor of Takahashi telescopes. They provide exclusive warranty services on Takahashi instruments. Read more...

Bushnell Telescopes

Bushnell Outdoor Products is the leader in sports optics and have been providing products for 50 years. Currently Bushnell has 11 brands and nearly 15 product lines including Browning Sport Opitcs, Tasco, Serengeti, Bolle, Uncle Mike, Hoppe's, Stoney Point, Butler Creek, Blackwater Gear, and Uncle Mike's Law Enforcement. Bushnell Outdoor Products are available internationally with corporate offices in the United States, Canada, France, Australia, and Hong Kong. Tasco Telescopes

Tasco telescopes are manufactured by Bushnell Outdoor Products. This line has 17 different telescope offerings. Tasco provides a telescope so small that it only has a 1.25 inch eyepiece and is recommended for camping. The Tasco line of telescopes have different warranty options than the Bushnell, despite being from the same company. Tasco requires a call to their customer service and provide the code number. For Tasco products which were purchased before September 1st, 2002, there will be no product code and the warranty options are different. Read more...
