Tasco telescopes are manufactured by Bushnell Outdoor Products. This line has 17 different telescope offerings. Tasco provides a telescope so small that it only has a 1.25 inch eyepiece and is recommended for camping. The Tasco line of telescopes have different warranty options than the Bushnell, despite being from the same company. Tasco requires a call to their customer service and provide the code number. For Tasco products which were purchased before September 1st, 2002, there will be no product code and the warranty options are different.
The 17 different telescopes Tasco offers are split within four categories: Specialty, Novice, Luminova, and Spacestation. The Speciality line has a less expensive cost than other brands and are manufactured for use by the casual stargazer. The Novice provides portable and durable telescopes for those beginners who wish to travel with their telescope. The Luminova line is lightweight, and portable, but also has slow motion controls and a wide field-of-view. The line has both reflector and refractor telescope types available. Finally the Spacestation telescopes offer LED electronic Red Dot Finderscope and comes partially pre-assembled. The Tasco telescopes all use Altazimuth mounts.
Tasco telescopes are available in the United States and in Canada. In order to find where they are sold, however, one must call the numbers provided on the Tasco website. The Tasco telescope slogan is "designed to make the larger than life even larger". Just like Bushnell Outdoor Products, the Tasco telescope is more complex in design and tends to be marketed towards the technology addict more-so than the astronomy hobbyist. While this can be one of the same thing, the more traditional astronomer might fight the Tasco telescope features to be hindering rather than helping. Those who are wanting a more simplistic telescope would not be satisfied with a Tasco telescope.
